The great news came in the beginning of March that Apple will now allow push notifications to be used for advertising!
Apple updated its App Store guidelines with a change to its strict restrictions around push notifications. iOS developers now have an opportunityt o send ads through push notifications — as long as they asked for your agreement. Apple has updated its App Store guidelines where we may read new changes, exactly: now third-party companies may use push notifications for “promotions or direct marketing purposes.” Developers at the same time will be obliged to program an opt-out switch and ask for permission in a clear way before sending messages to their users.
“Push Notifications should not be used for promotions or direct marketing purposes unless customers have explicitly opted in to receive them via consent language displayed in your app’s UI, and you provide a method in your app for a user to opt out from receiving such messages,” states the new policy.
Still, as Affiliate Marketers we cannot use the change in regulations to our advantage yet. But since the first steps have already been taken, maybe soon in the future we will be able to utilize Push Notification Ads at Apple to its full extent.
