From the outside, domain parking can look almost automatic: connect a domain, redirect the traffic, collect the revenue. Once you manage a portfolio rather than a single name, the practical questions start piling up. How do you connect thousands of domains without creating extra work? How do you keep the ads relevant? And how do you see which part of the portfolio is actually performing?
To answer those questions, we spoke with Xinyi, RollerAds Business Development Manager in China. Xinyi works with domain parking partners both locally and across global markets.
Q: Xinyi, welcome. What can a domain owner expect when they bring a portfolio to RollerAds?
Xinyi: We built RollerAds domain parking around the things that matter in day-to-day portfolio management: flexible integration, relevant advertiser demand, Direct Click monetization, content-safe ad categories, transparent statistics, and tools for working efficiently with large groups of domains.
Q: Integration is usually one of the first questions domain owners have. How can a partner connect a portfolio to RollerAds?
Xinyi: A domain owner can add any number of domains within a single integration, which is especially useful for larger portfolios. We support several connection options, including nameservers, CNAME records, and API integration.
Regardless of the connection type, the process is designed to avoid unnecessary operational work for the partner.
Before you move a portfolio: connecting the domains is only one part of the decision. Our practical checklist for choosing a domain monetization platform covers the rest.
Q: Once the domains are connected, how does monetization work inside RollerAds?
Xinyi: The main monetization model is built around Direct Click. When a user lands on a parked, expired, or typo domain, they can be redirected to an advertiser’s offer that is relevant to the domain context.
Direct Click creates a direct path between existing domain traffic and advertiser demand. But we do not treat monetization as a simple redirect process. We also focus on relevance, content safety, categorization, and the way the domain owner can monitor performance across the portfolio.
What happens after the visit? Our Direct Click guide explains the traffic flow, targeting options, and the advertiser side of domain redirects.
Q: What does relevance mean in this case?
Xinyi: It means we do not treat every domain the same. Domains can have different content categories, keywords, historical contexts, and audience signals. We use that information to connect a domain with ads that are more relevant to the user journey.
Q: You mentioned content categories. How does RollerAds use them?
Xinyi: We assign each domain to a relevant IAB category based on its context and keywords. IAB stands for Interactive Advertising Bureau. Its taxonomy is a standard framework for classifying online content by topic.
When a new domain joins the platform, we use those categories to understand what kind of content it relates to – for example, Hobbies & Interests, Sports, or Health & Fitness. This helps us match domains with more relevant advertising and gives domain owners access to ads that fit their traffic.
Q: What kind of advertising can domain owners expect to see on their domains?
Xinyi: A key part of our setup is high-quality, content-safe advertising, including eCommerce and other relevant categories. We also work with Related Search on Content and Search Feeds. These can redirect users to search results based on their intent and monetize that traffic through sponsored search listings.
Q: What happens when a new domain is added? Does it start generating revenue right away?
Xinyi: Before a domain becomes part of the active inventory, it goes through a short review and verification process. After that, the domain goes live right away.
Q: Once a portfolio is live, what can a domain owner see inside the RollerAds platform?
Xinyi: Domain owners can access detailed performance statistics, including CR, RPM, profit, and other metrics, and review how their portfolio performs over time. They can also break the data down by GEO and operating system. Statistics are updated throughout the day with only a short reporting delay.
Owners can also organize domains into groups by assigning tags. For example, they can create separate groups for different niches, GEOs, or acquisition batches. Then they can filter the statistics by those groups and see traffic and revenue across a specific part of the portfolio instead of checking each domain individually.
Q: Can you give an example of how a domainer could use tags in practice?
Xinyi: A partner may have acquired several groups of domains at different times. They can create a separate tag for each acquisition batch and compare how those groups perform.
Or they may want to compare domains in different verticals, such as Finance, eCommerce, Software, or Nutra. Tags make it easier to separate those groups and analyze them individually.
Q: So the platform helps a partner see not only how much the portfolio earns overall, but also where that performance comes from?
Xinyi: Exactly. That can be especially useful when a partner is considering selling a domain, as they can better understand its traffic profile and performance.
Q: Speaking of selling, can domain owners do that inside RollerAds?
Xinyi: Yes. A partner can list domains for sale through the RollerAds platform while continuing to monetize their traffic. The domain remains an active asset while it is available to potential buyers.
Monetize now, sell when the time is right. Our domain sales feature guide shows how to list a domain while keeping monetization active until it is sold.
