Parked domains get visitors whether you do anything with them or not. How much those visits earn depends a lot on the platform you choose.
In a short video, Renz Gonzales, our VP of Growth and Partnerships, goes through five things worth checking before you park your domains anywhere. Here’s a quick recap of each point, with notes on how it works at RollerAds. The full video is at the end.
1. Getting your domains in
Some people have just a few domains, others have literally thousands. In either case, connecting them shouldn’t take a full day of setup, so look for a bulk upload option and more than one way of connecting.
At RollerAds, you can add domains in bulk and connect them via API, DNS, or CNAME. Moderation is fast, and your domains go live quickly. For the step-by-step version, see Xinyi’s guide to domain parking at RollerAds.
2. How much your reports can tell you
To work out what’s working, you need reliable stats. Look at what metrics the platform provides and how up to date the data is.
RollerAds reports are just about live (very short delay) and they show the traffic and revenue for each domain.
Good stats are also a massive help when it comes to selling. A huge number of owners have no idea what their domain traffic is, which makes it very hard to price them. With impressions, CPM and profit in front of you, you’ve got an answer if a buyer comes along and asks for the numbers. You can also list domains for sale on RollerAds and keep earning from them while you’re waiting.
3. Ad relevance and safety
The ads on a parked domain should be appropriate for the people who end up on that domain and be safe for the domain itself. We use content keywords to match your traffic to the relevant advertiser offers.
This is the IAB categorization. The IAB categories are topic labels for ads (Finance, Shopping, Travel, etc.). If your domain is about travel, then your visitors will see travel ads. The more relevant the ads, the better the conversion.
We also run our own ad rotation to generate more revenue from the same traffic. Ads are selected to be content-safe for each domain (including eCommerce ads and Search Feeds).
4. Convenience in managing a big portfolio
Adding domains is only half the job. The other half is keeping them all organized and being able to find the stats you need.
At RollerAds, you can tag your domains as you upload them and then filter your reports by tag. You can group them by niche, by GEO, or by where you bought them. If you want to know how your travel domains did last week, you simply pick the tag, and there it is. Our guide to domain tags covers how to plan your tags, whether you have five domains or five thousand.
5. Help when you need it
Numbers look off? A domain stuck in moderation? You shouldn’t have to wait days for an answer. At RollerAds, you’ve got a personal manager and fast support, so there’s always a real person you can talk to.
