Meet the Minds: RollerAds Account Managers

We have released many interviews with heads of various departments, but this time, we decided to try something new. Instead of talking to one person, we interviewed a team of account managers. These are the people who are your primary support team throughout the entire RollerAds journey.

During a pleasant conversation, Anastasia, Max, Yan, and Pavel explained what account managers do, what personal and professional qualities are important for this role, and how they came to this position.

Question: Let’s start from the beginning — what do account managers do?

Yan: Generally, we support clients throughout their time working with RollerAds and help them maximize their earnings. Account managers act as a vital link between the advertiser and the company.

Max: We also share insights and provide valuable advice. Since we have an in-depth understanding of the platform, we can help clients unlock the full potential of their campaigns. We meticulously check campaigns before they go live to eliminate potential mistakes and ensure they are optimized for success.

Pavel: We also tailor the traffic to match the specifics of our clients’ offers. By utilizing our insights, such as trending offers or traffic sources, we know what’s in demand and can guide clients to make the most informed decisions. This helps them achieve better results and increases their satisfaction with our services.

Anastasia: Moreover, we onboard new users to the platform, guiding them through their first launch and ensuring they feel comfortable and confident using our services. We provide continuous support to help them navigate and succeed from the very beginning.

Question: How can you help advertisers?

Yan: Performance drops, miscellaneous issues, and various questions can arise throughout a campaign’s lifespan. Advertisers come to us in such cases, and we investigate the causes and solve the problems. Our role is to ensure that any challenges are addressed promptly and effectively, minimizing downtime and maximizing performance.

Max: We also provide emotional support! Building friendly relationships with our users is a crucial part of our job. We respond quickly to their questions and concerns, acting as the communicative bridge between them and other departments within the company. This ensures that their feedback and needs are heard, creating a more cohesive and supportive experience.

Question: Can you highlight the top issues that advertisers often encounter?

Pavel: One common issue is buying the wrong type of traffic for their offers, like purchasing desktop traffic for an offer that does much better on mobile – this mismatch can significantly impact the effectiveness of their campaigns. Additionally, trying to cover too much traffic with a small budget can also cause problems, as it spreads resources too thin and reduces overall campaign efficiency.

Max: Another frequent problem is the “all-at-once” approach, where users launch campaigns across multiple countries without considering each country’s specific needs and characteristics. They might also misuse the numerous tools available on our platform.

Yan: Because features have different names on different platforms, users might not always understand their true purpose. Therefore, additional onboarding is necessary to help users grasp and use the functionalities correctly.

Question: How can advertisers scale their campaigns?

Yan: One key strategy is to try something new — exploring new traffic sources and verticals. Sometimes, advertisers don’t realize they can diversify and launch campaigns in different directions within our platform. Experimenting with these options can uncover new growth opportunities.

Max: Indeed, testing new verticals can be very beneficial. Advertisers often don’t consider that other verticals might provide good and stable revenue. We frequently suggest trying something new to see what works best. Another tip for increasing campaign revenue is to use multiple creatives within a single campaign. This approach allows you to determine which creatives are the most effective.

Pavel: It’s also important to keep an eye on seasonality and global events, so you can switch offers based on current demand. For instance, this summer is filled with sports events, making related campaigns very popular. While football was the focus recently, now the spotlight is on the Summer Olympics. Adapting to these trends can significantly boost campaign performance.

If you run sports campaigns, it’s your chance to get up to 10% back in RollerAds Cashback Marathon.

Anastasia: If we talk about increasing earnings overall, you can always add extra monetization to your landing pages. RollerAds provides a solution for collecting push subscribers, an excellent practice that can significantly boost your overall ROI.

Adjusting bids is crucial as well. Since you might not always have information on potential volume, tailoring your bid for each campaign is essential. You might start with an average bid and get no results, but you could see substantial growth by slightly increasing it. Fine-tuning your bid strategy can greatly impact your campaign’s success.

Don’t miss out on an additional revenue stream and get the maximum with RollerAds push monetization!

Question: Do you have any favorite features that you always recommend testing?

All together: Use all available features!

Anastasia: However, if talking about favorites — custom rates. If an advertiser sees that something is working well, it makes sense to set custom rates higher (or lower if it’s not performing as expected). Adjusting rates based on performance can significantly improve the results.

Max: Traffic presets combined with Smart bid models are a must. Additionally, our reports can be beneficial for those who don’t use third-party trackers. They provide comprehensive insights and help in making informed decisions.

Yan: Auto creatives and the Creatives library are essential. These tools streamline the creative process and provide various options to enhance campaigns.

Pavel: CPA Goal, which has just been launched, is already showing excellent results in the campaigns run by the managers I work with. It’s a promising feature that can help achieve better performance with much less effort.

Question: How did you come into the field of affiliate marketing, and what do you like about it (and working at RollerAds)?

Anastasia: I used to work in sales, particularly in e-commerce. I wanted to switch to a more modern field and found my way into affiliate marketing, which I really enjoyed. My background is in management, and I have always been interested in interacting with different people. Since childhood, I have studied foreign languages and lived in various countries.

Max: I have always wanted to travel a lot and communicate with people from different cultures. I studied to become a project manager, so in a way, I’m working in my field of expertise. I get immense satisfaction from cross-border communication.

Pavel: I studied international business and spent a long time working in the hospitality industry, where I developed a deep appreciation for customer service. I loved being the first line of the company. After that, I spent five years teaching English, where I honed my soft skills. When I was offered a position as an account manager, I realized it combined everything I loved: supporting the users, communicating online (I am more into calls than texting), and attending conferences for more genuine connections.

Yan: I studied customs affairs and worked for a while in international railway transportation. The field was very conservative and bureaucratic, so I wanted to try something more open, free, and modern. I really enjoy that in affiliate marketing, there are virtually no boundaries. There’s a lot of room for opportunities and growth.

Question: How do you want to develop in this field?

Anastasia: The goal is to deepen expertise in affiliate marketing and continuously enhance skills.

Max: There is a strong interest in working more closely with the product. Frequent interactions with the technical department, providing feedback and client requests, could lead to a focus on implementing new features and improving the product.

Pavel: I aspire to form a team of account managers specializing in a specific GEO and/or vertical and focus on training to ensure they are highly skilled and knowledgeable in their field. This way, we can provide even better support to our users and drive greater success for the company.

Yan: Being more involved in the company’s processes is a key ambition. Bringing and testing new hypotheses and initiating new projects that will help the company grow are my major goals.

Question: What do you enjoy most about working at RollerAds?

Max: The people. Everyone here is a skilled professional and a fantastic colleague.

Yan: I agree. No one is here just for the sake of it. You have to love affiliate marketing to succeed. I also appreciate that at RollerAds, you can approach any colleague to discuss your ideas; everyone is open to that.

Anastasia: The mutual help and support among colleagues is uplifting.

Pavel: The RollerAds team knows how to work hard and party hard. Outside of work, we have a great time together, enjoying fun activities and social events.

Question: What moments in your work bring you the most joy?

Anastasia: Knowing that you’ve helped improve their results or solved a problem really hits home.

Pavel: Yes, especially when you meet that person at a conference and discuss it in person. It adds a special touch to the satisfaction.

Yan: It’s also vital for me to build warm and productive relationships with clients. That connection is invaluable.

Max: It’s great when something that hasn’t worked finally turns around after trying different approaches. Seeing things improve after optimization efforts is very satisfying.

Question: What qualities and skills are essential for an account manager?

Anastasia: Stress resistance!

Max: …And empathy.

Pavel: These qualities need to go hand in hand. Otherwise, it will be difficult. Additionally, being skilled in multitasking is crucial.

Yan: Besides, having critical thinking skills and the ability to analyze data and draw conclusions are also very important. Most of all, because you are working with other people, you must have excellent communication skills.

Question: What advice would you give someone wanting to break into affiliate marketing?

Anastasia: Newcomers definitely need to network, engage in chat groups, and attend conferences and webinars. Building connections and staying informed are key.

Max: Read niche forums to stay up-to-date with the latest trends. Also, be prepared that your first tests might not be successful, but that’s not the end of the world. You just need to regroup, analyze the results, and keep going.

Pavel: I think it’s crucial to understand digital advertising in general, not just our specific field. Knowing the various types and promotion methods can give you a broader perspective and better understanding of what’s happening in the industry.

Yan: It’s essential to understand that this field is not linear; there will be ups and downs. You need to stay resilient and keep pushing forward.

Question: Last but not least, why should people choose to become advertisers with RollerAds?

Yan: Because we genuinely care for our partners.

Max: We are always ready to help. We continuously improve our platform, greatly benefiting from user feedback. We actively follow trends and create our own solutions to ensure that the platform not only exists but meets the real needs of our users.

Pavel: We’re simply the best!
